Photographic Excursion with a Twist

Sun Jan 3, 2010, 6:18 AM
I was out in the town today as I often are - and even picked up a few more PS2 games. GTA Vice City and a LOTR Fighing Game (Two Towers) that I never played but it was cheap and I am willing to take a chance.

So I went out to Djurgarden and passed by a Water Museum known as Aquaria. I never really noticed the place before, all I know is that its pretty small and that I often regarded it as a tourist trap - tought I dont really know why since I before today has never been there.

It was an interesting experience tought it led to a uncomfortable feeling in my belly. I used to like theese kind of things and on this occasion, I went in with the exited feeling that I could take a few photos that otherwise would been impossible to take - but tought I took them, it was not a pleasent experience.

I think what really turned my belly was that after witnessing their shark pool, measuring it in my head and watching a shark with leopard spots swim by me time after time and realising it swam the same circles all the time on a spot and that the tank was as big as my apartment. About that time, I stopped taking photos and I sincerly doubt I will upload thoose taken.

About now, I regret ever setting foot inside. I do not hate Zoos and Aquariums. Nor do I think they ought not to exist tought I am usually not very amused by them - exept for Skansen, but that is more of an outdoor museum where most of the animals are allowed spots away from the public eyes, big areas and thoose animals who can run around freely are allowed to do so.

Its easy to just think that a Fish in a tank does now know any better and maybe they do not - but if you are to have larger animals, then at least give them proper space. I doubt I will walk into Aquaria again. I dont really want to support such places.

Next time I take a photo of a wild, exotic animal - I hope I can do so in the wild or at least a place where the animals dont have to swim in circles just because they dont have a bigger tank.

Ice Age returning...

Sat Dec 26, 2009, 4:43 PM
I usually dislike people who feel they have to apologize for not posting anything. In my case, I have to explain it. I am sure this story of Gloom will make somebodys day feel better.

Its been snow around - check my latest posts and you have pretty much the general idea on how much. [link] gives a fair hint about how it looked this particular day when I was walking across the street when a Car comes in about 40 kilomiters - the limit where I live is about half. So naturally I have to jump away, and slips on the pavement while the car somewhat slows down. It is when I open my bag with a nasty suspicion that I see him step on the gas again.

It was pretty good that he did - because the Optics of my D40 fell off its hinges and is since then unusuable tought the D40 itself seems to be alright. The SB-400 Speedlight lost its battery hatch in the snow tought.

And to top it off, the store that sponsors the competition has yet to even send my 500D since they want to send all the competition prizes at the same time. However, one of the other 1st prize winners recived hers just before Chrismas so she pointed me in the direction of whos arm to twist around. I simply have to call him on Monday and I suppose he will send it - if he has not already (tought if he had, I would got it on the 23rd.

Short list of X-Mas Presents:
A PS2 Slim from money I got from different people.
1 year of Free World of Warcraft from Marina
A heap of sheets from my Aunt and Grandma.
Airplane Models from my sister (B-47 and a Seaplane of some sort) - Expect pictures of theese when done.
A sum of money that can either be saved or used (I know myself too well, I know exactly that I wont save even a cent of it...) from my father.
Free trip to Helsinki in spring 2010 for a Photo Exhibit
About 100 euro to spend on clothes.

And at last, I recommend :iconshadow-and-flame-86: whos images - often with a little story - usually is enought to brighten my day anytime.

Okey, Ill stop linking now before Ill link her entire gallery of Seals and Whales...
Have a look at any rate :)
